The Seven Ingredients of Awakening: Equanimity

unsplash-image-crzshbvMPcA.jpg

The last ingredient of awakening is the relaxed and spacious heart of equanimity. Equanimity, the practice of letting go of any contraction or limits of the heart/mind, is considered the highest happiness in this human world. We give up arguing with life, and relax into clarity and wise response to the world within and around us.

Friday evening (7-8:30 PM) will include a practice session and a dharma talk exploring equanimity within the context of the four tasks of the factors of awakening, looking at when it is present, when it isn’t, and what encourages it to arise and flourish.

During the Saturday morning half day retreat (9:00-12:30) we will engage in further practice and exploration and have time for questions and discussion together, including contemplating what equanimity means in the face of the enormous challenges facing our society and world right now.
