Balancing our energy: the challenges of sloth/torpor and restlessness/anxiety. A Friday evening and Saturday Morning Retreat

This weekend we will continue our four month exploration of the five hindrances, five challenges that arise in our practice that block us from fully settling into life as it is.  We explore engaging with these energies with mindfulness and friendliness, allowing them to liberate themselves within spacious awareness.

This Friday evening talk (7-8:30 PM) and Saturday morning (9-12:30) mini retreat will explore the third and fourth hindrances of sleepiness and dullness, and restlessness and agitation. We will engage these energies through the five mindfulness tasks of noticing when one of these challenges is present, when it’s absent, what leads to its arising, what helps us restore balance, and finally what prevents it from arising again. Through kind attention and discerning wisdom, we will balance our energy, open our hearts, and deepen our practice.

This retreat will take place in person, vaccination and masking indoors required. For more information, contact Insight Meditation Center of Newburyport
