Exploring the Heart of Compassion Part II

Insight Meditation Center Newburyport, Newburyport MA

The Saturday morning program (9:30am-1pm) will continue with the same theme as Friday's talk, compassion, and include sitting and walking meditation, a short dharma talk and time for group inquiry. At the end of the morning we will get an introduction to the chant of the Great Compassion mantra.

During this program we will continue our program on developing and supporting the heart, specifically focusing on cultivating the heart of compassion that can care about suffering with sweetness and strength.

Compassion is an easily misunderstood quality, sometimes mistaken for despair or pity. What is true compassion? How do we open to suffering  and care about it without getting overwhelmed and grief stricken? We will look at and develop compassion from the angles of tenderness, strength, fierceness, and spaciousness.
